#OspolyDecides2026: Student Calls for ISEC Clarification as Voting Restrictions Trigger Concerns

Concerns over access to the online voting portal at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, have continued to grow as some students report difficulties participating in the ongoing Students’ Union Government election.

The concerns, earlier reported by The Creativity Site, have now prompted calls for clarification from the Independent Students Electoral Commission (ISEC), particularly over reports of students being unable to cast their votes despite attempting to access the portal.

A Mass Communication ND II student, who contacted The Creativity Site and requested anonymity, called on the ISEC Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Adekunle Raphael, to address the situation.

According to the student, some affected voters were reportedly receiving messages indicating that multiple votes were not allowed from a single device, despite their claims that they had not previously voted.

«“We need a response from the ISEC Chairman because all I can see here on the e-voting is rubbish,” the student said.»

The student further alleged that a number of the affected voters were Mass Communication students and questioned whether students from the department were being disproportionately affected by the reported restrictions.

"If the ISEC Chairman can give us the list of the students they are restricting from voting and their departments, it would be nice,” the student added.»

The student also raised concerns about fairness in the electoral process, asking whether the reported restrictions could affect students’ ability to exercise their voting rights.

Another student reportedly contacted the platform with a similar complaint, claiming to have encountered the same “multiple vote” restriction despite not having voted previously.

The complaints come amid the ongoing online election, which ISEC announced would be conducted through the OSPOLY student portal from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

The ISEC Chairman had earlier assured students at the Situation Room that eligible students have the right to vote, following concerns circulating about voting access.

However, with fresh complaints emerging, affected students are seeking clearer information on the cause of the restrictions and how those unable to access the portal can exercise their franchise.

The Creativity Site has reached out through the issues raised and will publish any official clarification from ISEC as it becomes available.
