#OspolyDecides2026: Rector Addresses Students as ISEC Records Over 11,000 Votes from 14,000 Accredited Voters

The Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Comrade Kehinde Ajayi, has addressed party agents, students and other stakeholders at the Election Situation Room following the conclusion of the institution’s 2026/2027 Students’ Union Government election.

The Rector, who spoke shortly after the close of voting, noted that the exercise marked the second e-voting election conducted by the institution, as the Polytechnic continues to utilise an electronic platform for its student elections.

Also speaking at the Situation Room, the Vice Chairman of the Independent Students Electoral Commission, Hon. Comrade Amusan A.A., disclosed that more than 11,000 students voted out of approximately 14,000 accredited voters.

Amusan described the level of participation as an indication of students’ involvement in the electoral process.

 “Out of all the 14,000 accredited voters, we were able to get over 11,000 voters. This shows how involved our students have been,” the ISEC Vice Chairman said.

The remarks followed the conclusion of voting, with the Election Situation Room serving as the centre for monitoring the electoral process and the collation and announcement of results.

The 2026/2027 SUG election attracted significant attention among Ospolites, with students participating in the online voting exercise to elect representatives into various SUG positions.

The election was also accompanied by concerns from some students over difficulties accessing the voting portal. ISEC officials had earlier attributed reported glitches to traffic on the platform and assured eligible students that they would be able to vote.

With voting now concluded and the winners declared, attention has shifted to the incoming SUG administration and the issues that shaped the election.
