Excellence International Schools Elects New Prefects After Two Weeks of Campaigns

Excellence International Schools, Koboro, along Onigbedu Road, Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, has elected new student prefects following a voting exercise held on Friday, October 9, 2026 for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.

The election, which followed two weeks of campaigns by the contestants, was conducted through a paper ballot system in which students wrote the names of their preferred candidates on paper and dropped their votes into a ballot box.

Teachers who participated in the conduct of the election to promote a free and fair process included Mr Olubiye Victor Segun, Mrs Odukoya Temitope, Miss Abolade Toyosi, Mr Femi Awe and Mr Amosun Taiwo.

At the end of the exercise, Awe David emerged as the new Head Boy Prefect with 82 votes, defeating his opponent, Jamiu Sulaimon, who polled 23 votes.

Salawu Abraham was elected Assistant Head Boy with 81 votes, ahead of Julius Samuel, who secured 25 votes.

In the girls' leadership category, Johnson Victoria emerged as Head Girl with 56 votes, defeating Oyetunde Haleemah, who received 53 votes. Gafar Balikis was elected Assistant Head Girl with 55 votes, narrowly defeating Edun Okiki, who polled 54 votes.

Other students emerged as winners in their respective categories, while some positions were awarded based on merit.

1. Special Adviser to All Prefects/Labour Prefect: Jamiu Sulaimon (selected on merit).

2. Head Boy Prefect: Awe David — 82 votes.

3. Assistant Head Boy: Salawu Abraham — 81 votes.

4. Head Girl: Johnson Victoria — 56 votes.

5. Assistant Head Girl: Gafar Balikis — 55 votes.

6. Health Prefect: Abiala Darasimi — 65 votes.

7. Assistant Health Prefect: Muslim Habbeb (selected on merit).

8. Library Prefect: Alabi Taofikat — 59 votes.

9. Assistant Library Prefect: Odutola Abigail (selected on merit).

10. Punctuality Prefect: Azzez Khalid — 74 votes.

11. Assistant Punctuality Prefect: Jamiu Tobi — 77 votes.

12. Assistant Labour Prefect: Salako Abiodun — 37 votes.

13. Assembly Prefect: Kehinde Opeyemi (selected on merit).

14. Assistant Assembly Prefect: Ojomu Olumide (selected on merit).

15. Timekeeper: Beyioku Blessing (selected on merit).

16. Assistant Timekeeper: Olaleye Olamide (selected on merit).

The results released from the election showed the following performances by other contestants:

- Head Boy Prefect: Jamiu Sulaimon — 23 votes.

- Assistant Head Boy: Julius Samuel — 25 votes.

- Head Girl: Oyetunde Haleemah — 53 votes.

- Assistant Head Girl: Edun Okiki — 54 votes.

- Health Prefect: Muslim Habbeb — 49 votes.

- Library Prefect: Odutola Abigail — 49 votes.

- Punctuality Prefect: Peter Abigail — 6 votes; Ajayi Temitope — 35 votes.

- Assistant Punctuality Prefect: Usman Haleemah — 8 votes; Julius Paul — 20 votes.

- Assistant Labour Prefect: Salako Eniola — 6 votes; Elijah Pelumi — 16 votes.

Jamiu Sulaimon, who was selected as Special Adviser to all prefects and Labour Prefect on merit, was previously recognised as the first student to receive a scholarship at the school. The scholarship was awarded during the school's last end-of-session party.

The newly elected prefects are expected to demonstrate discipline, responsibility and exemplary leadership while working with teachers and the school management to promote orderliness and academic excellence.

The election marks another step in the school's efforts to encourage student participation and develop leadership skills among its pupils and students.
