Yayi Reveals Plan to Appoint Late Ogogo as Culture, Tourism Adviser If Elected Governor

APC governorship candidate in Ogun State for the 2027 election, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has revealed that he had intended to appoint the late actor, Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo, to a government position if elected governor.


Adeola disclosed this while paying a condolence visit to the family of the veteran actor in Ilaro, Ogun State.


According to the senator, his plan was to make Ogogo his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism, with the position carrying cabinet-level responsibilities.


He said the plan was something he had already considered privately and was hoping to implement after winning the governorship election.

"I planned to make Ogogo my Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism. Not just as SA but as a full cabinet member if I won the election and become the governor of Ogun State."

Ogogo, a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry, died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66.


Yayi's disclosure came during his visit to the actor's family following his death.


The senator also recalled his relationship with the late actor, who was widely known for his contributions to Yoruba-language films and the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The proposed appointment, however, remained a plan disclosed by Yayi and was dependent on his election as governor.
