#OspolyDecides2026: OSPOLY SRC Election: ISEC Postpones Polls From September 11 to September 14 Over Result Upload Delay

The Independent Students Electoral Commission (ISEC) of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has postponed the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) election earlier scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2026, to Monday, September 14.

The commission announced the postponement in an official memorandum dated September 10, 2026, citing delays in the submission and uploading of students’ academic results by some Heads of Department (HODs) to the Management Information System (MIS) Unit.

According to ISEC, the delay has affected its ability to verify the eligibility of aspirants, particularly the minimum CGPA requirement stipulated by the Student Union Constitution.

The commission said conducting the election without complete and verified academic records could undermine the credibility, fairness, transparency and constitutional validity of the electoral process.

ISEC said it made reasonable efforts to resolve the issue and proceed with the election as originally scheduled, but concluded that postponing the poll was the most appropriate course of action under the circumstances.

“Proceeding without the necessary academic records would undermine the credibility, fairness, transparency, and constitutional validity of the electoral process,” the commission stated.

With the new date, ISEC said all eligible aspirants would have to be duly screened before the election is conducted in line with the provisions of the Student Union Constitution.

The commission also advised aspirants, student leaders and Class Governors to take note of the new date and remain attentive to official communications concerning the revised electoral timetable, screening arrangements and other procedures.

ISEC reiterated its commitment to ensuring a “free, fair, credible, transparent, and constitutionally compliant SRC Election.”

The memorandum was signed electronically by Adeniyi Adekunle Raphael, Chairman of ISEC, and Shittu Faruq, Secretary of the commission, while Olayinka Victoria Pelumi, ISEC P.R.O., 2026/2027, disseminated the notice.
