Nineteen presidential candidates and their running mates are listed for the 2027 general elections, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Omoyele Sowore, Donald Duke and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde among the better-known names in the race.

The candidates are drawn from 19 political parties, according to the list provided.

Tinubu is seeking another term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Atiku is the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election on the Labour Party platform, is listed as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate.

The list also includes former Cross River State governor Donald Duke of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), AAC candidate Omoyele Sowore and Seyi Makinde of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The list places the APC, ADC and NDC tickets among the most closely watched in the contest, given the national profiles of Tinubu, Atiku and Obi.

Tinubu's running mate is Vice-President Kashim Shettima, while Atiku's ticket includes former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.

Obi is paired with Kwankwaso on the NDC ticket, while Sowore will contest under the African Action Congress.

The list also features candidates from parties including the PDP, PRP, NDP, YPP, AA, Boot Party, DLA, ZLP, LP, NRM, ADP, NNPP, SDP, APM and APP.

With the presidential field now comprising 19 candidates on the supplied list, the contest is set to involve a range of established political figures and lesser-known candidates as the parties take their campaigns to voters.
