#OjudeNAMACOS’26: Four Houses, Different Colours, One Family at OSPOLY

The 2026 Ojude NAMACOS has brought students of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, together in a celebration of culture, unity and identity, with participants turning out in traditional attires and representing four house colours.
The event, held on Friday at BHS, Iree, Osun State, was organised by the NAMACOS Prestige Regime ’26 as part of its activities to promote cultural expression among Mass Communication students.
In an exclusive interview with The Creativity Site, the NAMACOS ’26 Social Director, Babalola Favour Olawale, popularly known as Olaskit, said the regime's intention was to continue the Ojude NAMACOS tradition established by previous regimes while giving its own edition a fresh touch.
“For us, the idea was simple: we wanted to preserve the culture of Ojude NAMACOS while giving it a fresh touch that students could connect with,” Olawale said.
According to the HND 2 student of Mass Communication, the organisers wanted an event where students could celebrate their culture, express themselves and strengthen their sense of belonging to NAMACOS.
He said the theme of culture, unity and identity was reflected in the different traditional attires worn by participants.
“We wanted students to understand that while we may come from different backgrounds and represent different cultures, we are still one family under NAMACOS,” he said.
The event featured the grand entrance of the houses, house king dances and house performances, while the four house colours—Purple, Green, Brown and Orange—added a competitive element to the celebration.
Olawale said the level of coordination and the structure of the activities were among the features that made the edition stand out.
“Everyone wanted their house to stand out,” he said.
He described the response from students, lecturers and other members of the OSPOLY community as encouraging, noting that students participated actively in the activities and supported their respective houses.
“As Social Director, I would say the event was successful because the purpose was achieved, people had fun, culture was celebrated and beautiful memories were created,” he said.
The event also had the presence of the FYB Committee, NAMACOS stakeholders, serving executives, former leaders and other personalities who came out to support the programme.
Olawale appreciated those who honoured the invitation and contributed to the event, saying their presence added prestige to the occasion.
Reflecting on the future of Ojude NAMACOS, he said the Prestige Regime ’26 hopes to leave behind a legacy of creativity, proper planning, unity and excellence for subsequent regimes.
He urged the next NAMACOS administration to build on existing efforts and improve the experience for students.
“Our message is basically: ‘Take the culture, improve the experience and make it bigger,’” Olawale said.
He added that the significance of the programme goes beyond entertainment, as cultural and social activities also form part of students' experiences outside the classroom.
“Events like Ojude NAMACOS remind us that school is not only about academics. The memories we create, the friendships we build and the culture we celebrate are also part of the polytechnic experience,” he said.
Olawale thanked the NAMACOS family, Prestige Regime ’26, FYB Committee, NAMACOS executives, stakeholders, house representatives, lecturers and others who contributed to the organisation of the event.
