#OspolyDecides2026: Favour Pledges Prompt Communication, Student Feedback in SUG AGS Race

Aeleke Favour Adepeju, an ND1 student of Library and Information Science at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has pledged to improve communication between the Students' Union Government and the student body if elected SUG Assistant General Secretary.

Adeleke Favour, popularly known as Favour, made the pledge in an exclusive interview with The Creativity Site during its #MeetTheContestants Election Interview Series ahead of the 2026 OSPOLY SUG election.

The aspirant said her decision to contest was driven by her desire to serve students, contribute to the development of the institution and help bridge the gap between students and SUG leadership.

According to her, leadership should go beyond occupying an office, stressing that an effective leader must be available, responsible, accountable and willing to listen.

Favour said she understands the AGS office as one that works closely with the General Secretary in handling administrative duties, including documentation, communication, notices, correspondence, meeting arrangements and proper record-keeping.

She promised to carry out the responsibilities with discipline, accuracy, transparency and teamwork, while also maintaining confidentiality in handling official matters.

On communication, Favour said important information should not get to students late or through rumours. She proposed the use of official WhatsApp channels, notice boards and other approved communication platforms to ensure verified information reaches students promptly.

"My goal is simple: the right information, from the right source, reaching students at the right time,” she said.

She also proposed a student feedback system through which students could submit suggestions, complaints and questions and have them directed to the appropriate SUG officers.

Other ideas she outlined include a more organised SUG information and announcement system, improved documentation and record-keeping, as well as regular interaction between SUG officers and students.

Favour said such interaction would help SUG leadership better understand the experiences and needs of the students it represents.

Explaining why students should support her candidacy, the AGS aspirant said she was not seeking the office for its title or recognition but for the opportunity to serve.

"I cannot promise that I will solve every problem overnight, but I can promise to be responsible with the opportunity given to me,” she said.

Favour added that, if elected, she would prioritise service, accountability and the interests of OSPOLY students.

“If elected, I will make service my priority, accountability my standard, and the interests of OSPOLY students my responsibility,” she said.
