2027: Primate Ayodele warns Tinubu, APC against relying on money

Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against relying heavily on financial resources and political confidence ahead of the 2027 presidential election.


Ayodele, in a statement issued through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, predicted that excessive confidence within the ruling party could become a major obstacle to its electoral ambitions.


According to the cleric, the APC could underestimate the level of dissatisfaction among Nigerians if it fails to adequately address economic hardship and insecurity before the election.


He argued that the party's financial strength would not necessarily guarantee electoral success, warning that voters could reject the ruling party despite its resources.


Ayodele said the APC's perceived confidence could make it overlook the concerns of ordinary Nigerians, particularly those struggling with economic difficulties and security challenges.

He further cautioned against portraying President Tinubu as politically unbeatable, saying such an attitude could work against the party at the polls.


The cleric also dismissed the expectation that members of a presidential campaign council would be able to single-handedly change voters' perception of the administration.


According to him, the concerns of Nigerians cannot be addressed through political campaigns alone, especially if the underlying economic and security problems remain unresolved.


Ayodele therefore urged President Tinubu to take steps to reduce the hardship being experienced by citizens before the 2027 election.


He warned that failure to tackle the challenges facing Nigerians could result in significant opposition to the APC during the poll.


The 2027 presidential election is expected to generate intense political competition, with the APC and opposition parties already positioning themselves ahead of the contest.

Ayodele's latest prediction adds to a growing stream of political assessments and forecasts surrounding President Tinubu's bid for another term in office.
