In a strategic move to deepen family inclusion within humanitarian service, the Lions International, District 404B3 Nigeria, on Monday, April 5, 2026, hosted its much-anticipated Family Ties 2026 (Ota Axis) at the Ogun State Public Recreation Centre, Agarawu, Ota.

The event, themed “Family First, Service Always,” brought together Lions, Leos, intending members, and non-members from various clubs across Ogun and Lagos States, including Ota County Club and Ewekoro Pacesetters Club.

Proceedings commenced promptly at 1:00 p.m., featuring a blend of formal activities and family-oriented engagements. Attendees participated in the recitation of the national anthem, club anthem, and the ethics of Lions International—reinforcing the organization’s core values of service and integrity.

The District Governor, Adelaja Ademuyiwa, was represented at the event, while key figures such as Bolaji Ojedokun and Abiodun Ifeoluwa played central roles in coordinating the programme.

The initiative, according to multiple Lions members interviewed, was designed to bridge the gap between service and family life—bringing spouses and children closer to understanding the humanitarian commitments of their loved ones.

Speaking exclusively, Modupe Olayokun noted that the programme serves as an avenue for non-member family members to better understand the Lions community.

“Our intention is to bring our family members together to know more about the club we belong to… so that even our children can identify with it and benefit from the network and support system,” she said.h

Another Lion, Olawale Dacosta, highlighted the broader economic and social impact of the organization.

“Lions International doesn’t only impact communities; it also supports livelihoods. As a hotelier, the club’s activities bring business opportunities. It’s service that benefits everyone,” he explained.

He further described the event as a welcome development, expressing hope that it would become an annual tradition.

The event also featured games and recreational activities for children, including dance competitions and interactive sessions led by the Master of Ceremony. Notably, both children and selected adult members participated in fun activities, fostering unity and shared experiences.

Awards were presented to outstanding contributors, particularly members recognized for their financial commitments to previous projects, including initiatives executed in Abuja.

Members of the Leo Club—the youth arm of Lions International—also played active roles in organizing and executing the event.

Shodex described the experience as deeply fulfilling:

“The most rewarding part is that it helps both Leo and Lions families to know ourselves better. We contribute our time and talents to community service, and that makes a difference,” he said.

Similarly, Leo President Olutan Sunday Adebayo emphasized the transformative impact of the organization on young people.

“Being a Leo has shaped my life in many ways—financially, socially, and in terms of connections. Despite the stress, I will continue serving because it has become part of me,” he stated.

The event attracted a broader audience beyond the physical venue, as it was streamed live on Facebook via The Creativity Site. Full live coverage of the event is available on The Creativity Site Facebook page, allowing viewers and Lions enthusiasts to watch and rewatch key moments.

Family Ties 2026 stands as a reflection of Lions International’s evolving approach to service—one that not only addresses community needs but also strengthens the familial bonds of its members.

As the curtains drew on the event, one message remained clear: service is not just an individual commitment within Lionism—it is a family affair.

This is a developing story. More interviews and insights will be published subsequently. Stay tuned to The Creativity Site.
