Davido Alleges Akpabio Ordered Halt to Osun Result Collation as Adeleke Camp Raises Alarm

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio contacted an election collation centre and asked officials to stop the ongoing collation of results from the Osun governorship election.


“Senate President Akpabio called the coalition centre and told them to stop the collation,” Davido alleged.


The claim came amid a separate statement by the Imole Campaign Council, the campaign organisation of Governor Ademola Adeleke, raising concerns over an alleged plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the election inconclusive.

In the statement signed by Rep. Bamidele Salam, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the council, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, the campaign alleged that the purported move was aimed at frustrating what it described as Adeleke’s “imminent victory.”


“Our Party wishes to inform Nigerians of a sinister plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to declare the ongoing Governorship election inconclusive in an apparent move to frustrate the imminent victory of Sen Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke of the Accord,” the statement said.


The council also alleged that APC governors and leaders were coordinating the purported plan to “hijack our candidates victory and subvert the will of the gallant Osun electorate.”


It urged INEC to uphold its commitment to conducting a free, fair and credible election and called on security agencies to protect collation centres across the state.


The council specifically appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies to provide adequate security around the collation process.

It further alleged that ballot boxes had been hijacked in some polling units and called for those responsible to be arrested and prosecuted.


“We note with sadness, the hijack of ballot boxes already recorded in a few polling units by these thugs and demand that perpetrators be arrested to face the full wrath of the Law,” the statement said.


The campaign council also called on local and international observers to take note of the allegations and monitor the electoral process.
