FEATURE: Mass Communication Department;Crude oil of Ospoly

   The Mass Communication Department at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, established in 1981 alongside with the institution when it is still a Satellite Campus of The Ibadan Starting with few Lecturers like Mr.T.A Durojaye,Mr.Bamikefa.

  Over the years, the Mass Communication Department has grown to offer both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs, equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge for careers in journalism, broadcasting, public relations, and other related fields. The department is part of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, which houses departments such as Computer Science and Office Technology Management. 

  To begin with, the Mass Communication Department at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, continues to uphold the institution's mission of producing middle-level manpower in the fields of Information and Communication Technology, among others. The department remains committed to providing quality education and training to its students, preparing them for the dynamic world of mass communication.

     The founding and pioneer Lecturers and H.O.Ds like Mr Titus Durojaye,Mr Bamikefa,Dr.Philip Ewuola and others had laid a reputable learning foundation which the recent ones are now using for the building of GREAT PEN/MOUTH USERS.

   The department has been serving as the crude oil of Osun State Polytechnic,Iree by having the largest admitted students populace which is the major revenue of the institution since the inception of the department till now.

     Mass Communication department of Ospoly had produced many talents and créme of the society than other departments on campus because of the basic lecturing of how to be independent after school like; Public Relations Fiesta that gives Students the practical system of how a good public relation is to be build,Creation of Namacos Editorial Board(the only campus Journalists guild that reports fresh news stories of the school and state),an organization which has been tutoring Students on campus and which has result into low cases of C.O among the department Students,the HND2 newspaper and film production projects are part of the nourishing practicals that the department has been doing for years to stand out among others.

   In furtherance to that;the department is proud to produce the likes of Folaranmi Ajayi(Enigma),Patriot, Shakespeare,Lebi,Dr.Bingo,Olumiko,e.t.c;these people are among the Communicators that are trending tremendously out there with the knowledge they've gained from the department's brains loaded with Doctorate Degree.

    Though the school has many other departments like S.L.T,O.T.M,L.I.S,e.t.c but the saying is true that "Mass Comm leads while other follows" because apart from the previous assertions;the department has been the one that develops fastly in terms of development.

    Few among other departments Lecturers has the Doctorate Degree but the Department is blessed with:Dr.Akinrosoye Idowu,Phd(Present H.O.D),Dr.Tope Abiola,Phd(Immediate Past H.O.D and Current Dean of Student Affairs),Dr.Phillip Ewuola, Phd(A pioneer past H.O.D and prominent founding member of the department),Dr.Aderemi Adeagbo,Phd(Current Principal Lecturer).

   To even support that fact; some of the present Lecturers are alumni of the department e.g:Mr Sikiru Abacus,Mr. Adewunmi,Dr.Aderemi Adeagbo,e.t.c, if the department had not brainstorm them well,they won't have been employed in the school they've studied.

    To cut the long story short,I hope by now;all Students, Teaching Staff and Non-Teaching Staff will agree that MASS COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT LEADS WHILE OTHERS FOLLOWS.
