POEM: Alive-Death (Dedicated to Ospolites)

    By Victor Olubiye

Oh, Depression, why must you kill while we breathe? Why the rife?

Second only to death, why show no respect for life?

You crush the dreams of shepherds and flocks, tempting to commit suicide despite their strife.

You grasp students, lecturers, and leaders in your icy grip unfold,

Only the strong can rise and conquer your dark hold,

When will you release us, allowing youth to see hope in the world?

We Ospolites vow to defeat you,

Before you render our admission worthless,

We will stand united to reclaim our lives from your guess.
