Mass Communication department Freshers' Orientation.

      The event organized by the newly elected National Association of Mass Communication Executives of Osun State Polytechnic,Iree led by Comrade Shuaib took place today at the NLH1 lecture hall of the institution.The high table guests are;Head of Department of the department-Dr.Idowu Akinrosoye,the F.I.C.T SIWES Coordinator-Dr.Aderemi Adeagbo,MAOSS National President-Dr.Sikiru Adekunle,MAOSS Osun state chapter Gen Secretary-Comrade Temitope Adewunmi with th

e title of the event being POWER OF RESILLENCE:TURNING SETBACKS TO COMEBACKS.

    The event began with the appreciation speech from the NAMACOS President popularly known as Bankz.He appreciated God for the grace to be here,Students and Lecturers presents.

   The Master of the Ceremony showcases the NAMACOS Executives and Students Representative Council(SRC)members.

  The opening lecture was given by the father of the day who is the department Head.He started by informing the Students that he shelve so many thistle to be present in the event just because of his fatherly love.

   He informed the students to know that dress accompanies occasion;students may know the kind of dress to wear to occasions.

   To round off his speech he encouraged students not to join any secret societies but to join the likes of NAMACOS EDITORIAL BOARD(NEB) as it is one of the legalized groups to join on campus.

   The event continued with showcasing of talents by students;acting,dancing and singing,e.t.c.

    The F.I.C.T SIWES Coordinator,Dr.Aderemi Adeagbo was called upon to enlighten the students.He began his speech by telling the students not to take the event as a merrymakers one but one that enlightens newly admitted students.

   He stressed further by telling the students to build up their GP well because Lecturers calculate results with the addition of CA(30 marks)and exam(70)marks.

   He also advised the students to be  good in moral and relate well with Lecturers. He informed the students to be projecting the department image out well on campus or off campus.

   After the opportunity of asking questions has been given but none of the students asked,the faculty SIWES Coordinator asked questions from the students with rewards.Obafemi Uriel,a ND1 Mass Communication Student later won a cash prize of 5,000 by answering the deep question from the Lecturer.

   The Invited Guest Lecturer who is the chairman of Nigeria Public Relations,Osun State Chapter and who also doubles as the Public Relations Officer of Osun State University named Mr.Ademola Adesoji.

   He delivered his speech with the topic "Defining your path to success",he shared his perspective about life by sharing his own story which he said he faced so many obstacles before and after graduating.

  He informed the Students that Mass Communication department is a department that is versatile and most students studying it shouldn’t be worried about employment.

    The Guest Minister rounded off his speech by educating the Students by giving them few points that can help them to overcome challenges which are; Embrace learning beyond classroom, Network and build meaningful relationships, don't just go through school but let school go through you.

    The event was sweetened by giving prizes of 50,000 from alumni group of the department MAOSS, to best students of the department from the last session second semester results with the likes of Sobamowo Alice Ajoke who has a C.G.P.A of 3.30 in Nd2 currently and Rasaq with the C.G.P.A of 3.33 in HND2 currently;presented by the National President of MAOSS,Mr.Sikiru Adekunle.

    The event was rounded off with the presentation of projects which is public address system by the NAMACOS Executives to HND1 and Nd1 Students.
