Reacting after the race, the athletes expressed excitement over their performance.
“We are so happy,” the team said in unison.
They attributed their success to a strong start, noting that the first leg runner played a decisive role in setting the pace for victory. The anchor runner, Oyini Victoria, added that “courage” pushed her through the final stretch.
The team also credited their coach, Mr. Adeniji Mohammed Adeniyi, as well as teamwork and personal determination, for their success.

Speaking separately, their coach described the victory as a product of “workmanship and good training,” adding that while no special strategy was deployed, proper baton handling contributed significantly to the outcome.
“It makes me happy because they listened to instructions during training,” he said.
In the male category, Premier Comprehensive College clinched victory through the efforts of Akinbode Busayo, Aruna Emmanuel, Samuel James, and Abiodun Ajana.

Akinbode, who spoke on behalf of the team, described the win as both fulfilling and partly influenced by chance.
“It feels good. We see it as a game of luck,” he said.
He noted that confidence in victory grew stronger during the final stages of the race, particularly after the baton reached the last runner. Abiodun Ajana, who anchored the team, attributed the final push to divine support.
The team collectively acknowledged the role of their coach, Mr. John Ayina, emphasizing teamwork and encouragement as key motivating factors.
Their coach, in his reaction, pointed to consistent training as the foundation of their success.
According to him, the team’s familiarity with structured sporting systems—developed through regular school training and participation in sports clubs—gave them an advantage.
“What most coaches don’t know is that the first and last legs must be especially strong and well-trained,” he added, noting that the victory contributes to his professional record.

Chairman of the event, Mrs. Abdulsalam Rodiat, said the interhouse competition was designed to promote unity, discipline, and physical fitness among students.
She explained that beyond competition, the event aims to build confidence, teamwork, and lasting social connections among participants.
“The competition is expected to boost students’ confidence and create memories that strengthen their relationships and school pride,” she said.
She, however, acknowledged challenges encountered during planning, including time management, coordination of participants, safety concerns, and weather uncertainties.
Despite these issues, she noted that effective planning and teamwork ensured a successful outing.
Mrs. Abdulsalam also confirmed that there are plans to sustain and expand the event in future editions.
